    CLP and TUS-Clean Energy Form Joint Venture on New Energy and Smart City Technologies

    ​CLP Holdings Limited (“CLP”) and TUS-Holdings Co., Ltd. (“TUS”) are pleased to announce the formation of a joint venture between their respective subsidiaries CLP Smart Energy (China) Limited and Beijing TUS-Clean Energy Co., Ltd.  The new partnership aims to develop and deploy new energy and smart city technologies amid growing demand for digitalised energy infrastructure and services in Mainland China.

    CLP Power’s Engineer in School Programme Inspires 10,000 Students to Broaden Their Horizons and Create Bluer Skies for Hong Kong

    ​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) held its Engineer in School programme for a second time in the 2017/18 academic year, enabling 10,000 students from 50 secondary schools to learn about smart cities, climate change, and the digital revolution. Through a series of school talks, workshops, engineer experience tours, and by building a model of a smart city, it also showed them how the power industry is facing up to evolving challenges. Today, CLP Power hosted an appreciation luncheon for the participating students to share their experiences.

    CLP Power Introduces New Energy Saving Cartoon Heroes
    POWER FOUR at Hong Kong Book Fair

    ​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) will introduce a new team of energy saving cartoon characters called POWER FOUR at the company’s first appearance at the Hong Kong Book Fair which will be held from 18 to 24 July. The team – appearing in a 3D cartoon Power Kid Channel to be screened in the CLP Power booth in the Children’s Paradise zone – is made up of Power Kid, star of the popular POWER YOU Kindergarten Education Kit, and three new friends helping him promote green lifestyles to children and the public.

    Experiencing Craftsmanship of Power Industry

    ​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited ("CLP Power") hosted around 2,000 visitors at workshops at the Maker Faire Hong Kong 2018 x Make Big event on the Hong Kong Polytechnic University campus on 7 and 8 July, teaching them cable jointing and giving them the chance to use virtual reality (VR) to climb a transmission tower under the guidance of power engineering professionals.

    Executive Council approves CLP Power’s Five-Year Development Plan
    New Tariff and Monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment Come into Effect on 1 October

    CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today welcomed the decision by the Executive Council of the Hong Kong SAR Government to approve its Development Plan for 2018-2023. CLP Power also announced the first tariff package under the new Scheme of Control Agreement (SCA) which comes into effect on 1 October 2018. The tariff package will apply for 15 months until 31 December 2019. At the same time, a new Monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment will be introduced to reflect fuel price changes in a timelier manner.

    CLP Power Launches Community Energy Saving Fund to
    Champion Low-Carbon Living and Help People in Need

    ​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today announced the launch of a new CLP Community Energy Saving Fund with around HK$70 million in the first year to carry out a territory-wide energy efficient and conservation campaign, encouraging residential customers to live low-carbon lifestyles, subsidising business customers to replace electrical equipment with more energy efficient models, and at the same time supporting the underprivileged. Around HK$10 million of the fund will be used to help people living in subdivided units.

    Arrival of Over 1,200 Packages of Major Components Marks Good Progress for CLP Power Additional Gas-Fired Generation Unit Project

    More than 1,200 packages of major components, including a gas turbine weighing 50% more than the world’s largest passenger aircraft, have been successfully delivered in a new milestone for CLP Power Hong Kong Limited’s (CLP Power) construction of an additional gas-fired generation unit at the Black Point Power Station in Tuen Mun. The new gas-fired generation unit is expected to go into commercial operation by 2020.

    CLP and CGN Deepen Longstanding Partnership

    ​The Honourable Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of CLP Holdings (CLP), led a delegation of senior executives to visit the Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station in Guangdong Province on 21 May 2018. The CLP delegation was received by Mr He Yu, Chairman of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC), and the senior management team of the company. The visit followed CLP’s acquisition of a 17% equity interest in Yangjiang Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. from CGN Power end of last year.

    New CLP Eco Building Fund Awards HK$100 Million a Year
    To Help 400 Buildings Save Energy

    ​CLP Power Hong Kong (CLP Power) today announces the details of an upgraded CLP Eco Building Fund that will award HK$100 million a year to subsidise energy saving projects. The fund will support improvement works in the communal areas of around 400 residential blocks and commercial and industrial buildings a year and save an estimated 48 GWh of electricity – equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 11,000 households and approximately HK$55 million in energy costs.

    ​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) launches its Power Your Love programme today under the theme of “Save Energy, Save On Bills and Light Up Lives”. Residential customers are encouraged to save energy at home in summer. CLP Power will donate the energy saved to about 20,000 families in need by offsetting their electricity expenses.

    CLP Volunteers Praised for Serving the Community with Care and Expertise

    ​CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today held a CLP Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony to honour employees for serving the community with care and professional expertise in 2017. The CLP Volunteer Team contributed nearly 15,000 hours of service last year, with one individual contributing 216 hours of volunteer work. This year, CLP Power presented a new Power Expert Volunteer Award to recognise CLP volunteers who use their expertise in rewiring works and home electricity safety checks to help people in need.

Under the agreement, CLP Power will launch a number of new initiatives to encourage the community to embrace low-carbon lifestyles by promoting the development of renewable energy (RE) and energy conservation.

    Statement Regarding Recruitment of Welders by a Contractor

    ​According to our understanding, the welders being recruited by our contractor company are to work for the construction of the additional gas‐fired generation unit at the Black Point Power Station of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power). As the construction of the generation unit’s boiler which is of the latest technology requires special welding skills, it is required that welders equipped with the relevant qualifications and technical skills are employed to carry out the work concerned.
