    Public Alert Over Fake CLP Recruitment Advertisement

    CLP Holdings Limited says it has reported to police authorities in both Hong Kong and Chinese mainland that a fake recruitment notice passed off as CLP’s has been found on the Mainland. The Company is now taking action to address this unauthorised activity.

    Prevent Dementia

    In Hong Kong, one in 10 people is suffered from dementia, affecting 5% to 10% people aged over 65. As most people misinterpret early symptoms of dementia as part of the normal ageing process, many sufferers of dementia miss the optimum time for early intervention and become increasingly disoriented and unable to care for themselves. With the progressive ageing of Hong Kong population, dementia is set to exert enormous pressure on the medical and healthcare system and on society as a whole.

    CLP Holdings Limited Announces 2008 Interim Results
    Financial Highlights
    • Group operating earnings before one-off items for the first half of 2008 increased 5.4% to HK$5,254 million, while total earnings (including one-off items) dropped 8.5% to HK$5,610 million.
    • Consolidated revenue rose 11.6% to HK$27,534 million.
    • Earnings from our electricity business in Hong Kong increased by 7.6% to HK$4,040 million, whilst revenue grew 4.5% to HK$14,951 million.

    CAPCO and BG Group Sign Heads of Agreement for Long Term Liquefied Natural Gas Supply to Hong Kong

    Castle Peak Power Company Limited (CAPCO) and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited announced today that a Heads of Agreement (Agreement) was signed between CAPCO and BG LNG Trading (BGLT), a wholly owned subsidiary of BG Group plc, for the supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to CAPCO's proposed LNG terminal in Hong Kong. CAPCO is a joint venture company between ExxonMobil Energy Limited and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited.

    CLP Kicks Start the Largest Guangdong Tree Planting Programme Ever Undertaken by Hong Kong Corporations

    CLP kicks off plans to plant 1,000,000 trees to reduce carbon footprint

    Three hundred people picked up their shovels at Fu Tei in Tuen Mun today (26 April) to kick-start CLP’s Five Year Tree Planting Plan as part of the company’s initiatives to manage the challenges of climate change. CLP pledges, through this plan, to plant one million trees in the communities in which CLP has operations across the Asia Pacific region. The total area of the resulting woodland areas would be equivalent to about 140 football pitches.

    CLP Guangxi Fangchenggang Power Station Celebrated Completion of Phase I

    Fangchenggang (FCG) Power Station celebrated its Phase I project completion. It is the first large-scale infrastructure power project completed since the announcement of the state-approved Beibu Gulf Economic Zone Development Plan. Being one of the largest foreign invested power projects in Guangxi, the station provides the much-needed impetus for the economic growth in the area.

    CLP Holdings Limited 2007 Annual Results
    Financial Highlights
    • Total earnings up 7.2% to HK$10,608 million.
    • Earnings from our electricity business in Hong Kong increased by 4.1% to HK$7,589 million.
    • Earnings from our businesses outside Hong Kong grew by 7.2% to HK$3,414 million, including one-off gains of HK$1,030 million from the injection of our interest in Ho-Ping Power Station, Taiwan into OneEnergy and of HK$767 million on the swap of Torrens Island Power Station and Hallett Power Station in Australia.
    • Electricity sales in Hong Kong grew by 1.4% to 29,962 GWh; total sales (which include sales to the Chinese mainland) decreased by 0.3% to 33,997 GWh.
    • Consolidated revenue rose by 11.1% to HK$50,789 million; revenue from our Hong Kong electricity business recorded a 1.3% growth to HK$29,684 million.
    • Final dividend of HK$0.92 per share; including interim dividends paid, total dividends for 2007 amount to HK$2.48 per share (2006: HK$2.41 per share).
