    CLP India successfully completes refinancing for Jhajjar power plant with US$288 million syndicated loan
    CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, CLP India, has successfully raised US$288 million from five international and Chinese banks to refinance part of its existing loan for its 1,320 MW (2x660 MW) power project in Jhajjar, Haryana, India. This is the first Indian coal-fired project to be project-financed by overseas lenders since the Dabhol power plant case in the 1990s. The transaction, made possible by the country’s External Commercial Borrowings (ECB) policy, also marks the first time PRC lenders participated in a project finance transaction in India.

    CLP's TRUenergy Wins Bid for NSW Energy Assets in Australia

    CLP Holdings’ wholly owned subsidiary TRUenergy has reached agreement with the New South Wales (NSW) Government to acquire the state-owned EnergyAustralia’s energy retailing business, the Delta Western GenTrader Bundle, which comprises long-term offtake contracts to buy the output of the coal-fired power stations of Delta Electricity at Mount Piper and Wallerawang, and development sites at Marulan and Mount Piper for a total of A$2,035 million (HK$15,595 million).

    CLP Announces 2011 Tariff

    With the full support from EVS25 Organising Committee, comprising EVAAP, CES & SAE-China, and Environment Bureau of HKSAR government, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP) today kicked off Hong Kong's largest ever Electric Vehicle (EV) Parade and Exhibition (EVS25 HK EV Parade & Exhibition), featuring a wide collection of 50 electric vehicles of the latest design for various applications from 20 auto-makers, and also state-of-the-art EV charging solutions that are available in the market. EVS25 HK EV Parade and Exhibition represents CLP's latest efforts to promote low carbon living, following the Company's introduction of the first batch of 23 EV charging stations across Hong Kong (HK), introduction of HK's second EV quick charger, and the addition of EVs into its fleet.

    CLP Celebrates the Completion of its First Wholly-owned Wind Project in Qian'an in China
    CLP announced the official commissioning of its first wholly owned wind farm in Mainland China – Phase I of Qian'an Wind Farm in Songyuan City, Jilin Province. The project was developed and constructed by CLP. Phase I of the project has a generation capacity of 49.5 MW.

    CLP Holdings Limited Announces 2010 Interim Results
    Financial Highlights
    • Group operating earnings before one-off items for the first half of 2010 increased by 23.1% to HK$4,435 million, while total earnings (including one-off items) increased 83.0% to HK$5,921 million. The one-off items included a tax consolidation benefit from Australia of HK$989 million.
    • Consolidated revenue rose by 17.5% to HK$27,618 million.
    • Earnings from our electricity business in Hong Kong increased by 3.0% to HK$3,014 million, with revenue up by 5.3% to HK$13,669 million.
    • Earnings from our businesses outside Hong Kong and other earnings rose by 82.6% to HK$1,654 million.
    • Second interim dividend of HK$0.52 per share.

    CLP Power's 21st electric vehicle (EV) charging station enters into operation in preparation for more EVs to Hong Kong
    CLP Power today announces the commencement of operation of its 21st electric vehicle (EV) charging station at China Hong Kong City, which also marks the successful completion of the first batch of 21 EV charging stations planned. The charging stations provide a total of 49 charging points in public car parks, echoing Hong Kong Government’s announcement last week on the advance supply of the latest model of EV by another Japanese car manufacturer to Hong Kong.

    “Active Mind” Programme Helps Approximately 10,000 Senior Citizens Prevent Dementia

    In Hong Kong, one out of 10 senior citizens aged 65 or above is suffering from dementia, compared with a figure of 25 million dementia cases worldwide. With the ageing population, the number of dementia patients in Hong Kong is expected to reach 110,000 by 2020. Due to a lack of public awareness and the absence of noticeable early symptoms, many sufferers of dementia have missed the optimum time for early intervention. There is no dementia prevention programme in Hong Kong’s healthcare, especially elderly care, system, and cases has to wait for at least one year for geriatric mental health or dementia day care services.

    CLP Signs Agreement of Cooperation Intent to Invest in Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station in Guangdong

    CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) signs an agreement of cooperation intent with China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company (CGNPC) and Guangdong Yudean Group Co., Ltd. today to coinvest in Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station in Guangdong, China. Under the agreement, CLP will own 17% of the project. An additional partner in the project will include CGN Phase I Private Equity Fund Co., Ltd.

    CLP Invests in one of the world's largest solar farms in Thailand
    (Hong Kong, 1 July 2010) ─ CLP Holdings (CLP) announced today that its renewable energy development vehicle in Thailand, Natural Energy Development Co. Ltd. (NED), a joint venture with Diamond Generating Asia, Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, and Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO), has entered into binding commitments to proceed with the construction of a 73MW (DC) solar farm in Thailand, which will be one of the world’s largest of its kind.

    CLP Holdings Limited 2009 Annual Results
    Financial Highlights
    • Earnings from our electricity business in Hong Kong decreased by 21.0% to HK$5,964 million due to the first full year impact of the lower permitted return under the new Scheme of Control.
    • Earnings from our businesses outside Hong Kong and other earnings increased by 17.3% to HK$3,007 million.
    • Total Group operating earnings fell by 12.4 % to HK$8,537million with total Group earnings (including one-off items) falling by 21.4% to HK$8,196 million.
    • Consolidated revenue dropped by 6.7% to HK$50,668 million.
    • Electricity sales in Hong Kong grew by 1.7% to 30,570 GWh; total sales (which include sales to the Chinese mainland) increased by 2.0% to 34,301 GWh.
    • Final dividend of HK$0.92 per share; including interim dividends paid, total dividends for 2009 amount to HK$2.48 per share (2008: HK$2.48 per share).
