    Acquisition of further 30% interest in Castle Peak Power Company Limited and remaining 51% interest in Hong Kong Pumped Storage Development Company, Limited

    CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) is pleased to announce today its wholly-owned subsidiary CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has reached agreement, in collaboration with China Southern Power Grid International (HK) Co., Limited (CSG HK), a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid Co., Limited (CSG), to each acquire half of the 60% interest in Castle Peak Power Company Limited (CAPCO) held by ExxonMobil Energy Limited (EMEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil). CLP Power will acquire the 30% stake for a cash consideration of HK$12 billion.

    CLP Volunteers Give Out 6,000 LED Light Bulbs to Elderly in Need

    CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) and 13 community partners today jointly launches the ‘CLP Green Volunteers for Seniors Programme’ to promote energy saving to the elderly. Aiming to raise awareness of energy saving among the elderly, CLP Volunteer Team will give out LED light bulbs and energy-saving kits to 3,000 underprivileged single elderly or couples aged 60 or above living in Kowloon, the New Territories and Lantau Island.

    CLP Announces Cessation of the Provision of 2013 Rent and Rates Special Rebate
    CLP Power Hong Kong Limited announced today that it will have rebated the entire interim refunds received to date from the Government in relation to CLP’s claims against the Government’s overcharged rent and rates by 15 October 2013. The 2013 Rent and Rates Special Rebate being provided to customers will therefore be discontinued from 16 October 2013. However, CLP stands by our commitment to return to customers any future refunds of overcharged rent and rates we may receive in future from the Government just as we have done in the past.

    CLP's GREENPLUS Recognition Award Motivates Commercial
    and Industrial Sectors to Further Go Green
    CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today announced the results of its second GREENPLUS Recognition Award. The programme, which gives STAR Awards for the best energy-saving performers, aims to encourage business customers, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and schools to operate in a green and sustainable way. The number of participants jumped from 400 last year to a new high of 2,400. Entrants came from a more diverse range of sectors than last year, falling into 12 categories ranging from supermarket chains, shopping malls and small to medium-sized enterprises to NGOs and schools.

    CLP Holdings Limited Announces 2013 Interim Results

    Financial Highlights

    • Group operating earnings for the first half of 2013 amounted to HK$3,896 million, comparable with the corresponding period in 2012
    • Total earnings including non-recurring items increased 12.2% to HK$3,767 million; earnings per share increased 7.2% to HK$1.49 per share
    • Operating earnings from our electricity business in Hong Kong increased 5.5% to HK$3,417 million
    • Operating loss from our Australia business was HK$45 million (as compared to earnings of HK$268 million in 2012) due to challenging operating environment
    • Consolidated revenue rose 12.0% to HK$51,706 million
    • Second interim dividend of HK$0.53 per share

    The Castle Peak Power Station incident this morning caused no injury Power supply remains normal
    At about 7:45am this morning, a transformer bay inside one of Castle Peak Power Station’s generation unit was found on fire and activated the automatic fire extinguishing system. Fire Services Department was called on site immediately and put off the fire at around 8:15am.

    CLP Stages Typhoon Drill and Builds Temporary Pylon for Emergency Power Restoration
    CLP Power Hong Kong Limited ("CLP Power") conducted a major emergency drill today ahead of Hong Kong's upcoming typhoon season as part of the company's contingency measures against the massive power failures caused by storms around the world in recent years. The drill simulated the collapse of a transmission tower during a typhoon and the construction of a temporary pylon to restore power, a process that would see electricity restored 10 times faster than by repairing the damaged pylon.

    CLP Holdings Limited Announces 2012 Annual Results
    Highlights
    • Good performance from Hong Kong, China and, Southeast Asia and Taiwan, impacted by earnings decline in Australia and India, resulting in a 8.8% drop in group operating earnings to HK$9,406 million (2011: HK$10,312 million)
    • Total earnings affected by one-off events, especially Yallourn mine flood and Jhajjar coal shortages, with total earnings after one-off items decreasing by 10.5% to HK$8,312 million (2011: HK$9,288 million)
    • Our electricity business in Hong Kong remained stable, with operating earnings increasing by 5.0% to HK$6,654 million (2011: HK$6,339 million)
    • Improved second half performance, remediation at Yallourn and initial coal imports at Jhajjar
    • Investment opportunities focus on gas infrastructure, Fangchenggang and renewable energy
    • Share placing of HK$7.56 billion of net proceeds in December 2012 strengthened balance sheet to support future growth
    • Fourth interim dividend of HK$0.98 per share; including the first three interim dividends paid, total dividends for 2012 increased to HK$2.57 per share (2011: HK$2.52 per share)

    Application for CLP Community Care Subsidy Starts Tomorrow
    CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) launched the one-off Community Care Subsidy last December aimed at helping alleviate tariff pressure of the grassroots families in its service area. Application for the subsidy starts tomorrow (25 February). CLP will offer each approved eligible household a subsidy of HK$300. The company expects up to 30,000 families to benefit from the subsidy programme.
