CLP gained a foothold in Australia in the beginning of the 2000s. In 2011, we completed the acquisition of the New South Wales-based EnergyAustralia retail brand and customer base, which cemented our position as one of the largest integrated energy companies in the country. Subsequently, we renamed the subsidiary EnergyAustralia. The new brand better reflects our strong portfolio of generation and operations, and our commitment to grow and develop our presence in Australia.
As one of Australia’s largest integrated energy companies, EnergyAustralia operates a balanced portfolio of self-owned generation capacity and capacity purchases. As at 30 June 2020, EnergyAustralia's equity capacity and long-term offtake amounted to 5,332MW. Our multi-billion dollar asset portfolio includes coal, gas and wind generation facilities. We also service the electricity and gas needs of 2.43 million customer accounts across Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Queensland.
Helping communities across Australia is important to us. We have developed strategic partnerships with respected organisations to support the development of sport and the well-being of the communities we serve, helping to improve both local amenities and the environment.
