CLP entered the Indian market in 2002. Since then, we have grown our investments in the country into a diversified portfolio comprising generation facilities fuelled by wind, solar, coal and gas, as well as transmission assets.

In 2018, we introduced Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) as a 40% strategic shareholder of CLP India. The transaction enables CLP India to pursue new low-carbon investment opportunities.

CLP India is currently one of the largest foreign investors in India's renewable energy sector, with a strong portfolio of wind and solar projects. Its assets also include a supercritical coal-fired power project at Jhajjar in Haryana and a gas-fired plant at Paguthan in Gujurat. As at 31 December 2019, CLP India's total equity generation capacity stood at 1,842MW.

In 2019, CLP India entered the transmission sector after agreeing to acquire three projects. One of the projects was successfully transferred to CLP India in November 2019. The other two projects are expected to be taken over by CLP India in 2020.

CLP India's community engagement efforts focus on addressing health and education challenges. It is dedicated to improving the quality of life for communities where its assets are located.

CLP India will continue to power India with the highest operational and safety standards, in order to fulfil its pledge to bring light and power to millions in an affordable and sustainable manner.
