The first phase of the development of the Guangzhou Pumped Storage Power Station, with a total capacity of 1,200MW, was completed in 1993-1994. CLP has the contractual rights to use the equivalent of 50% of the first phase of the project (600MW) until 2034 through the Hong Kong Pumped Storage Development Company, Limited (PSDC), a wholly-owned company of CLP.
We use the contracted pumped storage capacity to support the operation and safety of the power system in Hong Kong.
