To support the government’s promotion of gerontechnology and ageing in place policies, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has launched the second phase of its Community Watch & Care Service Pilot Programme. By analysing the electricity usage data collected through smart meter, the programme identifies abnormal electricity usage among the elderly, enabling social workers and carers to better understand their living conditions and provide timely support. Since its launch in June last year, the programme has partnered with 9 social welfare organisations and the Hong Kong Housing Society, and offered this innovative support service to nearly 300 elderly people and people in need.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has been bestowed three prestigious international awards in recognition of its commitment to innovative energy management. The company’s self-developed “Innovative Demand Optimisation and Forecast Model” won the “Energy Project of the Year – International Award” from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) in the United States. Another energy management project in collaboration with Hong Kong Disneyland Resort also received the “Corporate Energy Management Runner Up – International Award” from the AEE. Meanwhile, CLP Power’s collaborative project with Chinachem Group (Chinachem), the “5G-powered Cooling Load Prediction System for Sustainable Shopping Malls”, also earned a “Gold Medal” at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. These accolades affirm CLP Power’s excellent performance in driving Hong Kong’s transition to a low-carbon society.

As Super Typhoon Ragasa gradually weakens, engineering staff from CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) are working at full speed to carry out emergency repairs and restore power supply to customers affected by the typhoon. Subject to weather and safety conditions, CLP Power aims to restore power supply to most affected customers by midnight today (24 September).

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) is set to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2026, coinciding with the centenary of Heung Yee Kuk New Territories (Heung Yee Kuk). To commemorate these milestones, CLP Power and Heung Yee Kuk are jointly presenting the “Together We Power a Brighter New Territories” exhibition, which showcases their longstanding partnership in bringing electricity to rural villages, outlying islands and new towns. An opening ceremony was held on 16 September to launch the exhibition. 

Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association (HKSME), the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power), the “Backstreet Alliance – The Local’s Guide to Kowloon City” was officially launched today (15 September) at Kowloon City Plaza. The initiative brings together over 60 restaurants and shops from the Kowloon City district to provide a rich and immersive experience that combines heritage tours, cultural storytelling, iconic movie scenes, Augmented Reality (AR) technology interactions, low-carbon initiatives promotion, and merchant offers to both locals and tourists. It also aims at promoting the district’s economic and cultural development.

CLPe and Kai Shing Management Services Limited (Kai Shing) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to combine their property and energy management expertise and enhance the energy efficiency, climate resilience, and sustainability of properties managed by Kai Shing. The collaboration will see Hong Kong’s tallest skyscraper – the International Commerce Centre (ICC) – transformed into a flagship for smart energy management, creating a blueprint for sustainable architecture in the city in support of the Hong Kong SAR Government’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has launched the E-Learning Assistance Programme again this year to facilitate e-learning of the underprivileged students. The programme is run in partnership with the Subsidised Primary Schools Council, the Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools, the HKCT Institute of Higher Education, and the Vocational Training Council, and provides new iPad tablets to over 2,100 primary, secondary, and tertiary students from underprivileged households.

Air conditioning accounts for around 45% of electricity consumption in commercial buildings, making energy-efficient cooling systems a critical factor to reducing carbon emissions. CLPe has teamed up with Henderson Land to implement an innovative Cooling as a Service (CaaS) solution at the Manulife Financial Centre, a landmark Grade A office tower strategically located in the heart of East Kowloon. The new system is expected to improve energy efficiency by over 60% and reduce annual electricity consumption by more than 30%, supporting Hong Kong’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau will co-host the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD), and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) in November and December respectively this year. As one of the largest power businesses in Asia Pacific serving Hong Kong for more than 120 years, the CLP Group (CLP) announced today (2 August) that it will fully support and sponsor the Games in Hong Kong, demonstrating its commitment to this national mega event and its support for the HKSAR Government in promoting sports development in both the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Hong Kong. 

The Hong Kong SAR Government announced the details of the Fast Charger Incentive Scheme today (25 July). CLPe fully supports the Government’s initiative to expand fast charging services and will provide more fast and ultra-fast charging facilities to address the growing charging demand from the private and commercial electric vehicle (EV) sectors, thereby promoting green transport.

In response to the rapid growth of electric vehicles (EVs) and the increasing demand for charging facilities, the HKSAR Government announced the details of the Fast Charger Incentive Scheme (the Scheme) today (25 July). CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) is launching a digital edition of its Low-Carbon City Planner board game, enabling players to explore energy efficiency as well as carbon and waste-reduction anytime, anywhere. CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) organised a study tour to Shandong for students from Po Leung Kuk C.W. Chu College in Hong Kong, as part of its Power the Youth Expedition programme launched in 2025. A group of 48 teachers and students visited Jinan, Qufu, Tai'an, and Weifang from 3 to 9 July, strengthening their sense of national identity by gaining first-hand experience of cultural heritage and learning about new quality productive forces in the Chinese Mainland. CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) held the capstone event of its 2024/25 Engineer In School Programme – the Tree-Pruning Robot Challenge (the Challenge) on 3 July 2025. Nearly 100 junior secondary students from various schools participated, integrating artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, and power engineering to assemble and programme robotic arms. Participants also utilised large language models to analyse data, exploring the potential and challenges of applying technology in the power industry.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) hosted a launch ceremony for its electric bus today (2 July). The pure electric double-decker bus made its public debut and will be used to provide transport services for employees commuting to power stations.

CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Tsinghua University on 27 June 2025 to launch a new programme, offering Tsinghua University undergraduates opportunities to pursue internships in Hong Kong. This makes CLP Tsinghua University’s first “Undergraduate Practice Training Base” in Hong Kong, strengthening joint efforts to nurture talent for the energy sector in support of the nation’s sustainable development.

Events of the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, and the 9th National Special Olympic Games will be held successively in Hong Kong in November and December this year. To ensure a reliable and stable power supply to the competition venues, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) collaborated with Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) to conduct power quality testing and simulated emergency power restoration drills at multiple event venues. These efforts aim to further safeguard power supply stability and enhance communication, collaboration and emergency response capabilities among all involved parties. 

As part of its efforts to beautify the community, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has collaborated with the HKCT Institute of Higher Education (HKCT) to launch the CLP Substation Beautification Project - Peer-to-Peer Coaching Programme, inviting HKCT students to join hands with secondary school students and take part in a mural design competition to beautify three substations in Sai Kung, Sha Tin and Yuen Long. An award ceremony was held on 24 June to recognise the students who creatively integrated local landmarks, cultural heritage and environmental elements into artwork, helping to promote the concept of green living in the community.

CLPe has teamed up with CNOOC Guangdong Water Transport Clean Energy Company Limited (CNOOC) to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the container vessel Hanoi Express from the German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd AG during cargo handling at Kwai Tsing Container Terminals on 5 June. Around 10,000 cubic metres of LNG was supplied to the vessel, marking the largest single LNG bunkering operation in Hong Kong to date and the city‘s first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering with simultaneous cargo handling. The milestone operation takes Hong Kong a step closer to becoming a high quality green marine fuel bunkering centre and further consolidates its position as an international maritime hub.

As Hong Kong enters typhoon season, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has formulated and implemented a series of precautionary measures, which include conducting emergency supply restoration drills, to mitigate the impact of typhoons and adverse weather on the power systems and our services.

To promote environmental education and address climate change, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) announced today (2 June) the launch of the inaugural CLP Climate Ambassadors podcast competition, in collaboration with The Green Earth and Metro Broadcast Corporation Limited (Metro Broadcast). Funded by the CLP Education Fund, the initiative aims to encourage primary school students to explore climate issues through the creative medium of podcasting, to foster a deeper public understanding of low-carbon living and renewable energy, and empower the next generation of climate leaders. 

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) hosted the CLP Sharing the Festive Joy – Fun4Infinity luncheon on 24 May, celebrating Tuen Ng Festival with 200 elderly people. In continuation with the upcycling theme, this year’s programme saw CLP Power collaborate with Yan Oi Tong and Fusion HUB in holding six workshops for the elderly participants to create upcycled household goods by repurposing old clothing.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today (17 May) set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the “Largest Induction Cooker Word” by laying out 1,000 induction cookers to spell “CARBON NEUTRAL” in an event held at Lok Fu Place to raise public awareness of decarbonisation. The induction cookers were donated to families in light public housing and transitional housing after the event to help reduce their energy costs.

As electric vehicles (EVs) become increasingly popular, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) announced today (16 May) the launch of a new Electric Vehicle Residential Time of Use Tariff (“EV Residential ToU Tariff”). CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) is pleased to announce the allocation of HK$10 million from its Community Energy Saving Fund to launch the Home Electrical Safety Programme (the Programme) again this year. The Programme aims to provide free inspection and maintenance of fixed electrical installations in the homes of elderly people, ethnic minority households, low-income families and people with disabilities, benefitting approximately 2,000 families.

Daya Bay Nuclear Power Site celebrates the historic milestone of being the first nuclear power site in China to surpass one trillion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of on-grid electricity generation today (29 April). Over 320 billion kWh of non-carbon nuclear energy has been imported to Hong Kong by CLP, contributing to the city’s economic and social development and playing a vital role in its decarbonisation journey.

The CLP Group yesterday celebrated the grand opening of its new headquarters in the site of the former Kai Tak airport, underscoring the Group’s support to the Hong Kong SAR’s vision to develop the historic area into a vibrant community.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today (25 April) launched the CLP Retail and Catering Coupons Programme, allocating HK$58 million from the CLP Community Energy Saving Fund to distribute coupons worth HK$100 to each of 580,000 eligible households. The programme, which aims to stimulate consumer spending, boost economic growth and support the underprivileged, has seen record participation this year with more than 3,800 retail and catering outlets taking part.

Today (April 22) is Earth Day, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has acted on this year’s theme of “Our Power, Our Planet” to call on businesses across the city to promote renewable energy development in Hong Kong. A total of 23 customers in catering industry and other business sectors will offset carbon emissions from the electricity consumption of their operations today through the purchase of CLP Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The businesses have bought nearly 130,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of CLP RECs, equivalent to a reduction of around 50 tonnes¹ of carbon emissions (See attachment for full list of participating businesses).

Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station has been presented with the Legacy Award (Industrial) and the Grand Award (Industrial, 1990s) in the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) 50^th Anniversary Legacy Award. The tributes recognise the outstanding contribution of the power station – a joint venture between CLP Group (CLP) and China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) – to Hong Kong over the past three decades.

As the hill fire season approaches, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has implemented comprehensive measures to enhance hill fire preparedness with the objective to maintaining a safe and reliable power supply.

According to the Hong Kong SAR Government’s Green Transformation Roadmap for Public Buses and Taxis, around 3,000 electric taxis are expected to be on the roads of Hong Kong by 2027. To meet the charging needs of commercial electric vehicles (EVs), CLPe has launched an EV charging service focusing on fast and super-fast charging, and offers a variety of charging solutions for commercial vehicles, including taxi fleets, light goods vehicle fleets, and limousine fleets. CLPe has also partnered with Link Asset Management Limited (Link) to expand the charging network in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories. More than 250 charging bays will be in service across Hong Kong, with the majority of them in Link’s car parks in 2025.

CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) participated in the China Development Forum (CDF) 2025, a high-level national conference held in Beijing from 23-24 March, joining around 720 business leaders, policymakers, academics and representatives from international organisations to discuss critical issues related to economic growth, innovation and sustainable development. 

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) Managing Director Mr Joseph Law and his management team today (20 March) attended the launch event of the Low-altitude Economy Regulatory Sandbox organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government. CLPe today (March 17) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a leading Mainland manufacturer of construction machinery Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Company Limited (Zoomlion) and Sanroc International (Hong Kong) Limited (Sanroc) planning to introduce Hong Kong’s first five-axis electric heavy crane lorry and provide one-stop battery leasing, charging, swapping, and maintenance service for electric heavy trucks, to promote green transport and support the HKSAR government to achieve its  carbon neutrality goal by 2050.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) launched a new programme Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future this year to increase young people’s awareness of sustainable development and social responsibility through an Energy-Saving and Low-Carbon Innovation for Tomorrows Competition. The competition, funded by CLP Community Energy Saving Fund, was organised in partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Hong Kong. The competition’s finals and award presentation ceremony were held on December 14. Team U14, formed by students of City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and The University of Hong Kong won the Gold Award in the Undergraduate Category. Team SD56 from Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology and Youth College won the Gold Award in the Sub-Degree Category.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday (11 December), joining forces to cultivate electrical engineering talents in Hong Kong that meet the needs of the power industry’s development.

They gained an in-depth understanding of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power)’s decarbonisation strategy and the innovative technologies being used to cope with extreme weather and maintain a stable, reliable power supply.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today announced a new tariff package which will take effect on 1 January 2025. The Average Basic Tariff will increase slightly by 1.4 cents per unit of electricity to 98 cents per unit of electricity. The Fuel Cost Adjustment will remain unchanged year-on-year at 46.3 cents per unit of electricity. The Average Net Tariff for 2025 will therefore be 144.3 cents per unit of electricity with an upward adjustment of 0.98% compared with 2024.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) hosted a luncheon today (November 16) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CLP Volunteer Team and the 10th anniversary of the Sharing the Festive Joy programme. Nearly 800 beneficiaries, representatives from non-governmental organisations and CLP Volunteer Team members gathered to mark the milestone anniversaries and to applaud outstanding volunteers for their dedication. To celebrate the Senior Citizens Day, an upcycling fashion show featuring the work of students and elderly people supported by CLP volunteers was staged at the luncheon to promote carbon reduction and environmental awareness and inject energy into the community, as well as showcasing the immense possibilities of upcycling.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today (24 October) organised a presentation ceremony for the 2024 Smart Energy Award, recognising businesses and organisations for their outstanding performance in energy management, application of innovative energy-saving solutions, and renewable energy development. CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) yesterday (17 October) received enquiries from customers who had received scam SMS messages purporting to be sent by “CLP Hong Kong”. The scam SMS messages indicated that the customer’s reward points were about to expire and attached a hyperlink to lure the customers to a fraudulent CLP website, prompting them to use points and credit cards to purchase gifts (See appendix).

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) welcomes and supports the initiatives announced by the Chief Executive the Honourable John KC Lee in the 2024 Policy Address today (16 October) to promote the development of the electric vehicle (EV) industry, include funding for the taxi trade and franchised bus companies to purchase EVs, subsidising the private sector for installing quick-charging facilities, exploring the repurposing of existing petrol-filling station sites as charging stations under the "single site, multiple use" model, developing a green maritime fuel bunkering centre and advancing the development of infrastructure such as green maritime fuel bunker terminals. 

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has once again organised the Summer Saver Rebate Programme, inviting more than one million households with smart meters to reduce their energy use during peak demand time. Nearly 70% of participating households successfully saved electricity and collectively lowered their consumption by over 280,000 kWh of electricity across a two-hour period, equivalent to a reduction in carbon emissions of 112 tonnes.

CLP China (CLP), BASF, and Envision Energy signed a 10-year power purchase agreement to support BASF's adoption of 100% renewable energy at its manufacturing sites in Nanjing, Rudong, and Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province. The agreement will contribute to BASF’s corporate goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and accelerate the low-carbon energy transformation of Jiangsu.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today (9 July) submitted the investigation report to Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) regarding the power interruption incident that occurred in Wong Tai Sin area on 12 June 2024, affecting a total of four residential buildings including Mei Tak House in Mei Tung Estate, Lung Kwong House in Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate and Lions Rise, as well as some neighborhood shops.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) is conducting a detailed investigation into the cause of the power incident in Wong Tai Sin last night (12 June) and will submit the investigation report to the Government. CLP Power apologises again for the inconvenience caused to customers who were affected by the incident.

Regarding the power incident in Wong Tai Sin area on the night of 12 June, power supply was fully restored at 12:11am on 13 June after urgent repairs. 

At around 8:02pm today (12 June), CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power)’s 11kV underground cable in Wong Tai Sin area experienced a fault, affecting the power supply to approximately 2,250 customers. Affected buildings include Mei Tak House at Mei Tung Estate, Lions Rise, and Lung Kwong House in Wong Tai Sin.

Launched by CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) in 2014, the Sharing the Festive Joy programme celebrates its 10^th Anniversary this year carrying the theme of upcycling. CLP Power collaborated with Fusion HUB and St. James’ Settlement to organise six upcycling workshops for the elderly to learn waste reduction at source and thereby reduce overall waste disposal. Using nearly 300 garments collected from CLP volunteers, over 180 elderly people experienced transforming old clothes into unique mobile phone bags, tote bags and cushion covers, encouraging them to continue to learn and explore, to move with the times and enjoy an endless joy journey.

CLPe and Hysan Development Company Limited (Hysan) today (16 May) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities for innovative energy management solutions at Hysan’s core portfolio in the Lee Gardens area of Causeway Bay. The solutions include proposals for a distributed district cooling system and initiatives to promote electrification and decarbonisation, with the aim to reduce carbon emissions from the properties. Second collaboration between AirTrunk, CLP Power and Microsoft to facilitate local renewable energy development

Asia-Pacific & Japan (APJ) hyperscale data centre specialist, AirTrunk, and Hong Kong’s major power utility, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) today announced the largest site-specific renewable energy certificate (REC) procurement in Hong Kong to support its customer, Microsoft’s goal of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2025.

Around 1:29pm today, CLP Power recorded a voltage dip in 400kV power supply system in Tuen Mun, during which there was no interruption to the power supply. As the voltage dip occurred in a high-voltage system, customers in different areas might have been affected.

Around 12:28pm today, CLP Power’s 400kV overhead power supply system connecting Yuen Long and Lai Chi Kok experienced a brief voltage dip, during which there was no interruption to the power supply. As the voltage dip occurred in a high-voltage system, customers in different districts might have been affected.

At around 12:21pm today (19 Mar), while CLP Power’s contractor was carrying out overhead line replacement work for a 400kV power supply system in Yuen Long, one non-energised overhead line fell, affecting a lamppost near the Au Tau Interchange and a nearby 11kV overhead line, causing damage to a vehicle passing through the interchange. No one was injured in the incident.

CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) is demonstrating its care for underprivileged households by using HK$9.5 million from its Community Energy Saving Fund to launch a Home Electrical Safety Programme. On 8 January, a delegation of CLP senior executives led by Chairman of CLP Holdings Limited the Honourable Sir Michael Kadoorie met with Chairman of China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) Mr Yang Changli and his leadership team at CGN’s head office in Shenzhen.

At 9:38am this morning (7 January), a CLP Power’s 11kV cable in the substation of On Mei House, Cheung On Estate in Tsing Yi experienced a fault and affected the power supply to approximately 388 customers at On Mei House. CLP Power immediately arranged for power restoration to customers, and resumed power supply to all affected customers at 11:04am. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to the affected customers.
