Castle Peak Power Station is one of the world's largest and cleanest coal-fired power stations and is operated by CLP. It was constructed in the 1980s to meet high growth in Hong Kong's electricity demand and to change CLP's primary fuel from oil to coal. As time passes and the community's desire for improved environmental standards increases, we have introduced the Emissions Control Project to reduce sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions phasing in from 2010, besides our ongoing emissions management measures.
